I am a Chattanooga, TN-based pet portrait artist.

I am a painter of many things pet related. My paintings have always reflected my love for the many four legged friends- dogs, cats, perhaps the occasional horse or goat in my life.

My love of painting began like that of many children,  spending countless hours dreaming of and drawing horses which developed my drawing and perception skills. Later when I chose a major in studio art at Virginia Commonwealth University, my love of animals began to emerge as subjects in most of my paintings.

Over the years my husband and I adopted many stray pets beginning with our orange striped tomcat, Ted, then two labrador retrievers, followed by more cats and dogs and so on until our present two stray cats. Meanwhile, my extended family and friends were doing the same and they have kept me very busy painting all of their pets (and occassional humans).

Nowadays pet commissions keep me busy painting and I have never gotten bored with the subject matter.  Each animal has a unique personality and that is what I aspire to portray.

It makes me so happy to see each owner's expression when he or she receives the portrait of their beloved dog or cat. In some cases the pet has been brought back to life on canvas. Working from photographs of deceased pets is a particular challenge which I take very seriously and sometimes have to spend hours researching to find the visual information I need.

Above photo is B.W., my loyal studio mate. He likes to warm up canvases for me in preparation for painting the next pet portrait!
